About Us

Established in 1978 at our present day East Dixie location, Doug’s Towing started as Doug’s Exxon. Doug’s Exxon opened with one wrecker and operated out of a two-bay garage. In 1982, changes within the Exxon corporation forced Doug’s Exxon to change to Doug’s Chevron. By 1988, business had grown so additions were needed; the existing two bays were no longer enough. Doug’s Chevron doubled bay space and continued operations at the East Dixie location. In 1994, after the contract expired with Chevron, and with the addition of his son, Kevin, joining the business, Doug’s Towing & Recovery was born. This marked the first time Doug’s Towing would have two wreckers for customer needs. In 2001, Doug’s Towing purchased their first two heavy duty wreckers at the request of their customers. A large semi-truck was added in 2002, along with the specialized division allowing us to service heavy trucks and transport heavy equipment. Doug’s Towing acquired a local towing service in 2006 which now made Doug’s have over 40 units on the road every day, servicing our customers. After servicing our area since 1978, we have become Elizabethtown’s largest and one of Kentucky’s largest as well.
